Vesalainen is a Finnish playing for Frolunda in Sweden, following in the Montreal Canadiens Arturri Lehkonen’s footsteps. Lehkonen just completed a successful rookie season with the Habs.

Vesalainen recorded 6 points in 26 games this year with the big club before he was loaned to HPK in the Finland Liigga. He will play for HPK next season. He also represented Finland at both the under 18 and under 20 World Championships. At the U18 he recorded 13 points in seven games, including six goals. At the U20s he recorded two points in six games with one goal. He has two medals from the U18 World Championships.

This is a fantastic pick for the Jets as he is a talented player who should come to North America after a couple more years in Europe to help his development.
