Rumour: Vegas Golden Knights likely selecting Enstrom

Darren Dreger thinks the veteran blueliner will be a Jet for only a couple more days.

NHL: Winnipeg Jets at Vancouver Canucks Anne-Marie Sorvin-USA TODAY Sports

According to Darren Dreger on TSN Radio in Toronto the Vegas Golden Knights are likely going to select Toby Enstrom as their pick from Winnipeg in the expansion draft on Tuesday. The picks will be revealed on Wednesday.

While this is obviously not confirmed, it is not unexpected. While Marko Dano is a young player who has potential, he would be entering his fourth organization since he made the NHL and he has not lasted in one for more than a season and a bit. There are probably some red flags there in the eyes of Vegas.

If Enstrom is taken, it will be a blow to the Jets defensive depth. They lack any strong defender on his side outside of Josh Morrissey, who cannot play on three pairings. Tyler Myers will hopefully be back healthy this season, but his health has been inconsistent at best. At the very least the Jets need to be signing at least one more defender before the start of the season.
