Winnipeg Jets recall Nelson Nogier

The lack of defensive depth is really shining.

A few years ago the Winnipeg Jets drafted a defensive defenceman from a bad team. That player was subsequently signed by the Jets and placed in the AHL. After not even a full season in the AHL, that player has been recalled to fill-in for the increasingly injured and broken defence in the NHL. That player is Nelson Nogier.

Nogier is not a scorer, recording two goals and eleven assists this season. He has been recalled on an emergency basis, meaning he will go back to the AHL as soon as the player he was recalled returns to the team. It is not clear which player this is at the moment.

Not a lot should be expected of Nogier if he plays this call-up. He is young and he has little professional experience. The Jets defence is also a mess making it even harder to integrate a new player into the fold while putting them in a position to succeed.
