Winnipeg Jets vs Dallas Stars

29 games to go, and the Winnipeg Jets are in the thick of the Western Conference Wild Card play off race. As you can see, only 4 points separates the top seeded #1 Wildcard spot held by the LA Kings, from the current spot being held down by the Jets.

The Winnipeg Jets are coming off a 5-3 win over the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday night, highlighted by strong team play and defense. Of the 3 goals that got by Jets’ Pavelec, only one was suspect, as the Blues’ player went glove high. St. Louis wasn’t the team that started the season, and as the game wore on, it was apparent that something was amiss, and as such, the loss cost the Blues their head coach, as Ken Hitchcock was relieved of his duties the very next morning. The Blues’ play was the Jets’ gain, as they collected a very valuable two points and build some momentum going into Dallas to face the Stars.

The Stars as coming in hot as well, going into tonight’s match up after defeating the Toronto Maple Leafs 6- 3 on Tuesday night.

This is hopefully going to be a great game with both teams tied in points, and looking to further secure their playoff lives.

3 Questions:

  1. Again, can Pavelec continue to play up to the level of confidence the team, the coaching staff, and the management of the Winnipeg Jets have in him?
  2. Can the Winnipeg Jets maintain it’s disciplined play and not allow the other team to secure a valuable power play opportunity? The Jets only took 2 minor penalties against the St. Louis Blues, one of which was for too many men.
  3. What would it take to put the Jets over the top?

Players to watch:

Winnipeg Jets: Byfuglien. Can Buff the Magic Rover balance out his defensive responsibilities with his offensive abilities?

Dallas Stars: Can Sharp regain his scoring prowess? In the 25 games he’s appeared in this season, Sharp has 6 goals and 6 assists for 12 points.

Prediction: Jets take the game 4-3.
