Winnipeg Jets vs Montreal Canadiens

The Winnipeg Jets are coming off a 4-3 overtime loss at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday night resulting in one point towards their playoff hopes.

Their opponents today are the Montreal Canadiens, who managed to make headlines during their bye week, by replacing their head coach. Claude Julien comes in and takes over as the Canadiens’ bench boss, which is his second stint with the team.

3 Questions:

  1. Again, can Hellebuyck continue to play up to the level of confidence the team, the coaching staff, and the management of the Winnipeg Jets have in Pavelec? Although coming off a overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penquins, Hellebuyck’s play was shaky in the first, but he settled down for the remainder of the game. Ondrej Pavelec is with the team during this road trip, and is breathing down Connor Hellebuyck’s neck!
  2. Can the Winnipeg Jets maintain it’s disciplined play and not allow the other team to secure a valuable power play opportunity? Things got a bit out of hand against the Penguins with no fault to the Jets on some occasions.
  3. Can the Winnipeg Jets become a consistent defensively minded team? Pittsburgh was able to get 47 shots in on Hellebuyck, while the Jets countered with 39.

Player to Watch:

Literally, both teams – Coach Julien will have his troops up and ready as this is the first game back in this current tenure with the Canadiens, so Coach Maurice should have his troops ready to match intensity and determination.

Prediction: Jets 2-1
