Preview and GDT: Winnipeg Jets at Detroit Red Wings

Time: 6:30 PM CST

Channel: TSN3, FS-D

Radio: TSN1290

The Winnipeg Jets (17-6-4) will be looking to stay hot and ready on Tuesday night when they pay their first visit to the Detroit Red Wings’ (10-12-5) new home, the Little Caesars Arena.

The Red Wings have not won in seven games, going back to November 17. The Wings have allowed 90 goals while scoring just 74 this season, giving them a -16 goal differential that is third worst in the NHL.

The Jets are 7-2-1 in their last 10, with team captain Blake Wheeler leading the way. After a four point outing against the Ottawa Senators on Sunday, Wheeler was named the NHL’s 1st Star of the Week. The top line has been firing on all cylinders of late, with Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor and last game Mathieu Perreault all contributing at at least a point-per-game pace in the last 10 games.

After a string of sub .900 save percentage outings, Connor Hellebuyck returned to form in the Jets dominant win over Ottawa, picking up his first shutout of the season.

Kyle Connor and Steve Mason are both travelling with the team, and could return to action soon.

Following this game, Winnipeg travels to Florida, because who doesn’t want to do that around this time of year? They first battle the Panthers in Sunrise on Thursday, before taking on the Eastern Conference leading Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday.

This will be the first of two meetings between the two clubs this season.

Do Red Wings fly higher than Jets?

Voting for All-Star Captains is now open. Perennially underrated Blake Wheeler would be a good choice. As would the guy who went 7th overall in 2011.
