As suspected last night, Mark Scheifele will miss time with an upper body injury and the timeline is close to bad as it can be. He will miss 6-8 weeks, leaving his return near the end of the regular season if he remains on schedule.
Mark Scheifele is out six-to-eight weeks with an upper-body injury. #NHLJets

The play seemed innocent enough at the time with Scheifele taking a minor shove into the boards. However, the result was Scheifele on the ice not moving and leaving the game.
The Jets have some options for a call up. They can call up Jack Roslovic or Nic Petan. Petan has the NHL experience, but Roslovic has had a great season in the NHL. Furthermore, if they want Petan in the AHL he should probably be left there so he does not surpass 100 NHL games before they want to send him down again.
However, it seems that in the immediate future, the Jets are not going to call anyone up and will add either Shawn Matthias or Marko Dano to the fourth line, shift Andrew Copp to centre, move Adam Lowry up a line and call it a day.
Maurice said he hasn’t decided if it will be Shawn Matthias or Marko Dano will be on the #NHLJets fourth line vs #Isles on Friday – though Matthias took the majority of the reps during today’s workout
