Drafted in the sixth round, 161st overall, in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft by the Ottawa Senators, Neil has 250 points (112G, 138A) in 1026 games, as well as 19 points (9G, 10A) in 95 playoff games, for Ottawa (2001/02-2016/17). He had 2522 PIMs, the 20th most of all-time and the most among active NHLers at the time of his retirement.
