Mikhail Berdin will be at the World Juniors

The Winnipeg Jets will have at least one prospect at the World Juniors this year: Russian goalie Mikhail Berdin. Berdin has already been selected as one of the three goalies that Russia will take with them to the Men’s World Under-20 Championships even though he has not yet joined the team yet.

This is great news for Berdin. It means that his play this season has warranted the attention of the Russian junior team’s coaching staff on the other side of the ocean. It also appears that he will be one of the top two goalies with the Russian team.

Outside of Berdin, there does not look to be many Jets prospects who will play in the World Juniors, but with Russia sometimes going through tournaments with uneven goaltending, it is probably likely that Berdin will see at least some playing time. Last time Jets fans were able to watch him was at the Penticton tournament and that went really well for the Jets and Berdin.
