Recap: Jets win a Wild one in Winnipeg

The Winnipeg Jets avoided being on the schneid by beating the Minnesota Wild at home on a lovely Friday night. They were able to score first and had an effective power play at first. The Jets were also able to capitalize on their opportunities and play some smart hockey to get the win tonight.

  1. The Winnipeg Jets started off strong and were able to dictate the pace of the game, especially the offence.
  2. Patrik Laine is a special player. He is a gifted shooter and a gifted passer who opens up passing lanes by taking shots and scoring goals. His second goal was basically him taking a slap shot because no one remembered to cover him. Protect him, Jets.
  3. Nikolaj Ehlers has been off to an awesome start and only has himself to thank. He is getting the luck he didn’t have last year and is proving that his new contract will be worth it next year.
  4. Connor Hellebuyck has been doing his best in goal for the Jets, but he struggled at times, partially because of tips and stuff though.
  5. The Jets struggled against the Wild’s AHL team as they have been broken by injuries. Hopefully they bounce back in the third.
  6. Again, Patrik Laine is a gift to the Jets.
  7. Blake Wheeler has looked off since the start of the season, but it is wonderful that he scored the go ahead goal in the third.
  8. Kyle Connor is sitting here reminding everyone why he should have been on the Jets from the start of the season. What a difference a year makes.
  9. Can Tyler Myers become more consistent or is any hope of improvement gone out the window by now.
  10. Why was Tucker Poolman scratched for Ben Chiarot? Did Paul Maurice think that Poolman needed to watch from above or did he just want to get Chiarot to get in a game?
