Patrik Laine injured against the Buffalo Sabres; Eric Comrie out for the Manitoba Moose

Patrik Laine is probably out for the forseeable future after taking a clean hit this afternoon against the Buffalo Sabres. It looks like Laine sustained a head injury, but there was no update on his condition from Paul Maurice after the game.

Outside of Laine’s health, this leaves a massive gap in the Winnipeg Jets lineup that will be very hard to fill scoring wise. The Jets best bet might be to put a player like Joel Armia on that line and use him as someone who drives play and does not have offence die on his stick. He will not score like Laine, but he will not hold Ehlers and Scheifele back either.

In AHL news, the Manitoba Moose have called up Jamie Phillips from the ECHL to fill in for the injured Eric Comrie. Phillips has not reached Winnipeg in time to back up Ondrej Pavelec tonight, so that honour goes to 45 year old Winnipeg fire fighter Greg Husson.
