Game #42 GDT: Winnipeg Jets at Buffalo Sabres

The Winnipeg Jets (19-19-3) have had a successful swing through the Atlantic Division thus far, and will look to make it three-for-three this afternoon against the Buffalo Sabres (14-15-9).

Winnipeg followed its 6-4 victory over Tampa Bay with a 4-1 over Florida the next day. Patrik Laine, Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers all scored, Bryan Little had two assists and today's starter in Connor Hellebuyck had a solid 31-save, .969 Sv% performance. Laine now leads all rookie scoring with 36 points, while being tied at 21 goals with who else, Auston Matthews. The 18-year-old Finn has six points in his last three games, and should have a decent opportunity at racking up more against an underwhelming Sabres squad.

Buffalo finds itself last in the Eastern Conference (tied with the New York Islanders at 37 points, but with one additional game played). Like Winnipeg, the Sabres are coming off a improved two-game stretch, having defeated the New York Rangers 4-1 before falling to Chicago 4-3 in overtime. The team's big-money free agent signing in Kyle Okposo has been all right, with 27 points in 37 games played. The 28-year-old is one of the few Sabres running hot at the moment, with five points in his last four games. Buffalo can also take heart in the performance of its goalies, with Robin Lehner and Anders Nilsson possessing save percentages of .921 and .926, respectively.
