Recalling Pavelec was a smart move for the Winnipg Jets

With two goalies struggling, it gives more time for them to be re-built without playing too often.

Ondrej Pavelec has been recalled by the Winnipeg Jets and it is not the end of the world. Instead, it might be the first step to help rebuild Connor Hellebuyck into the goalie he was when he was first called up. It will also expose a goalie who is not very good to the hounds once again, allowing for the younger goalies to spend more time at practice practicing instead of taking pointless shots that benefit the shooter.

Practices are hard for goalies because drills are rarely done with the goalie in mind. Instead, they are done with everyone else in mind first. This means that if a goalie needs more time to work on simple skills, they need to go out onto ice early or stay late; not ideal if you are playing frequently. Enter the three goalie system of allowing goalies to get time to put in the work they need to improve without having to work overtime.

I am not saying Pavelec will come in and win many games although he might do just that. No, this is a move that might benefit the other goalies on the Jets. This probably will not help the Jets win any more games, though it might help their younger goalies have more practice time and more time to get back to the techniques that made them NHL-calibre goalies in the first place.
