Winnipeg Jets draft Mikhail Berdin 157th overall in 2016 Entry Draft

In the sixth round, the Winnipeg Jets decided to choose a goaltender. I don't know too much about the goaltending prospects that were available this year but many people in the know like this pick. Put up impressive stats for Team Russia U18 in the MHL and a very impressive showing at the World Juniors with a GAA of .80 and SV% of .968.

The fifth ranked European goalie fell very far being ranked as high as 79th overall by Hockeyprospect.com. NHL Network has even been comparing him to Hasek. This is a low risk, high reward pick more in line with the traditional "Jets-y" picks from years prior. Interesting to see what he can do being shoved into the goalie pipeline with Connor Hellebuyck and Eric Comrie.

In far less words, this is looking like a great pick that could look even better down the road. Quite similar to the last Russian taken by the Jets, Pavel Kraskovsky, also a sixth round pick.
