Several teams feeling cost to trade for #NHLJets captain Andrew Ladd is too high. Will that invite other suitors or lower the ask?

There's been talk GMs feel Ladds price is too high for a rental..

Hearing #FlaPanthers cooling on Andrew Ladd because of high price. Word is first round pick, top prospect for what would likely be a rental.

About the #Isles and Andrew Ladd: last I checked price was far too steep for their liking. 1st plus one of their top F prospects. No dice.

Would best describe the Andrew Ladd situation right now as a game of chicken between #NHLJets and other suitors: who is going to blink 1st?
— Ken Wiebe (@WiebeSunSports) February 25, 2016
To be fair, I'd be upset if Chevy didn't set the asking price for Ladd higher than what he expected to get.

@sadsackjetsfan Agreed. I wouldn't be ruling any teams out right now. Set the price high, meet somewhere in the middle.

@AIHSuperfans It only takes one.

Say what you will, the Winnipeg Jets will be a weaker team in the near future if Andrew Ladd is traded in the next few days. Despite coming out of an injury funk to lead the team in scoring over the past little while , it would seem that the Winnipeg Jets brass are going fishing for picks and prospects while using Andrew Ladd as bait. But what if there is no takers? What if the asking price for the left winger is too high? Would the Jets have no choice but to sign him if there are no willing trade partners? I would think so, because losing Andrew Ladd to free agency would be the final nail in the Chevy coffin. In the meantime, the Winnipeg Jets have a game to play, and again it's against the Dallas Stars, in the second of a home and home series.

*Announced today, Bryan Little is done for the year, due to a T6 vertebrae compression fracture. It'll take a bit of time, but it will heal up in the next few months, so he'll get his training in and he'll be ready to go next season. However, it will be interesting to see how this impacts the Andrew Ladd contract/ trade situation. Matt Halischuk has been recalled from the Moose.
