Game #09 Preview and GDT: Buffalo Sabres at Winnipeg Jets

The Jets look to continue their hot, two game win streak against the Buffalo Sabres

NHL: Winnipeg Jets at Buffalo Sabres
We now know it as the Joel Armia trade

Eight games into the season and we still don't know what to make of the Jets. They've won matches they should have lost, and lost ones they should have won. So their 4-4-0 start is a fair gauge I suppose.

The Buffalo Sabres have started 2-3-2 and tied for last in the conference, thus making my hot taek playoff prediction look silly.

Speaking of making me look wrong, how about Joel Armia? In the 25 Under 25, I said that it was unlikely for him to be much more than a fourth liner. Pretty sure he reads my work, because he's decided to prove me wrong and for most of the season, he's been the best forward on the ice.

Playing their third game in four days, Winnipeg will need to be wary of fatigue setting in. Luckily, they're coming up against a Sabres squad also playing three in four, only in Buffalo's case, they played (and defeated) Florida yesterday on home ice. The Jets can also hope that today's starter, presumably Hellebuyck, continues his uptick in play.
