Anaheim Ducks

Anaheim signed defencemen Vitaly Vishnevski and Sheldon Brookbank to PTOs.

Arizona Coyotes

Arizona signed winger Joey Crabb to a PTO. Winger Martin Erat, who played for Arizona during the last two seasons, signed with the KHL's Avangard Omsk.

Boston Bruins

Boston made no moves this week. Winger Simon Gagne, who played for Boston last season, has retired.

Buffalo Sabres

Buffalo signed winger Patrick Kaleta to a PTO. He was also signed by AHL Rochester.

Calgary Flames

Calgary signed defenceman Aaron Johnson and Douglas Murray to PTOs. They signed defenceman Rasmus Andersson.

Carolina Hurricanes

Carolina made no moves this week.

Chicago Blackhawks

Chicago signed winger Daniel Paille and defenceman Jan Hejda to PTOs. They signed centre Jake Dowell, winger Tomas Kopecky, and defencemen Michal Rozsival, Kyle Cumiskey, and Lubomir Visnovsky to PTOs. Winger Daniel Carcillo, who played for Chicago last season, has retired.

Los Angeles made no moves this week. After nearly a year of legal issues following a domestic violence arrest, defenceman Slava Voynov has announced he will be leaving the Kings to return to Russia.

Minnesota signed goaltender Leland Irving to a PTO.

Montreal Canadiens

Montreal signed winger Tomas Fleischmann to a PTO. They named winger Max Pacioretty captain, with defencemen PK Subban and Andrei Markov, centre Tomas Plekanec, and winger Brendan Gallagher as alternates.

Nashville Predators

Nashville made no moves this week.

New Jersey Devils

New Jersey signed winger Jiri Tlusty and signed wingers Lee Stempniak and Tyler Kennedy to PTOs. They signed centre Rod Pelley to a PTO.

New York Islanders

The Islanders signed forward Brock Nelson. They signed winger Steve Bernier. They acquired winger Taylor Beck, forward Carter Verhaeghe, goaltender Christopher Gibson, and defencemen Matthew Finn and Tom Nilsson from Toronto. They signed defenceman Marek Zidlicky. They also introduced new black third jerseys.

The NHL has announced 45 designated preseason games (listed here) where the game will go to 3-on-3 overtime regardless of the score at the end of regulation.

The NHL officially announced its deal with Adidas to manufacture NHL jerseys starting in 2017/18. Thankfully, Commissioner Gary Bettman continues to insist that they're not putting ads on the jerseys.

As an expansion to the NHL's concussion protocol, the NHL will have trained concussion spotters at NHL games.
