The Winnipeg Jets draft Mason Appleton in the sixth round

The Winnipeg Jets have drafted centre Mason Appleton with the seventeenth pick in the sixth round. He plays for Tri-City of the United States Hockey League. He is a 19 year old centre who scored under a point per game this past season. He is a big guy at 6'2" who could possibly fill out his frame as he is under 200 pounds.

He does not seem to be much of a scorer based on his stats, but he is probably described as a smart, defensively sound player who plays the right way as opposed to a player trying to score on his own net every night. He is going the NCAA route next season, but not to the Jets preferred Michigan destination of the University of Michigan, but to their rival Michigan State University.

While there is a lack of scouting reports on Appleton out there, there is information on him, which means he is not a complete unknown.
