Winnipeg Jets chase the LA Kings' slow Quick, win 5-2

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

That was an exciting hockey game with some playoff level intensity. The Winnipeg Jets and LA Kings are both battling to keep their heads above the playoff line and neither team was content to step aside. In the end, the Jets were too much. They overwhelmed the Kings en route to a 5-2 victory.

A Number of Thoughts:

Bryan Little and Andrew Ladd continue to carry this team. They have been the backbone of the Jets for a number of years now. It will be nice to finally see them get some credit for it if this team makes the playoffs.

Speaking of playoffs, Captain Andrew Ladd was recently quoted saying he doesn't care about draft and develop. He is 29 and he wants to win now. Well, his actions speak as loud as his words. After leading the team with 10 hits last time out, Laddy led the Jets wither two goals, seven shots and a post. Ladd is leadering so hard right now.

You know who else is leadering? Dustin Byfuglien continues to kick *** and take names. He was clearly in the head of a few Kings players. Kopitar flat out bailed on a rush when he saw Buff squaring him up for a hit. Kopi is a stud, this isn't really a discredit to him. If he kept going he would have been crushed.

Anze Kopitar, Justin Williams and captain Dustin Brown finished the game with worse possession numbers than any other Kings player. When your studs are shut down, you usually lose.

BOOM! There were some solid hits in that game. Even Mark Scheifele got in on the fun with a HUGE hit. This was easily the biggest hit Scheif has delivered in his young career and it was clean. He still got jumped, but nothing too crazy will happen with #BuffNorris out there.

Anthony Peluso played a team low 7:01 tonight. That's a lot of minutes for big Tony. Hope he savored them as he may not see the ice for a while. With Blake Wheeler back and Lee Stempniak on the way, the Jets look to ride a quality lineup into the playoffs. I am really freaking excited about the potential here guys. This is a good team and is is getting better. Bring back Mathieu Perreault and look out!

Oh yeah and Jonathon Quick is a big dumb idiot baby and I don't much like him.
