Jets Fall 3-1 Against Oilers

After a strong game against the New York Rangers, the Winnipeg Jets couldn’t keep the momentum going as they lost 3-1 against the Edmonton Oilers.

he Oilers got ahead with a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period thanks to Teddy Purcell notching both goals with a little help from Taylor Hall and Leon Draisaitl. Almost half way through the second Justin Schultz scored a nifty goal that chased our Lord and Saviour, Connor Hellebuyck from the net, letting Michael Hutchinson see some action for the first time in six games. Bryan Little would score for Winnipeg that would be all they could muster.

A Few Thoughts

  • It was only a matter of time before Hellebuyck had a game where he would get pulled. I expect Michael Hutchinson to play a game or two before they let play him again.
  • Defense is just awful.
  • The Jets continue to feast on the Eastern conference at will but struggle against the Western teams.
  • The Jets are now last place in the Central Division and painfully close to securing a top 5 pick. With the trade freeze in affect at the moment, perhaps they will start selling off come the new year.
  • If Ladd keeps playing the way he is, no team will be offering him a contract that is close to what he is asking for.
