Last chance to impress the Jets brass

Coming off a win against the Calgary Flames on Thursday night, the Jets are looking to make it a clean sweep of their Western Conference opponents in the preseason. The Jets will travel to Calgary today to take on the Flames, who looked to bench a roster containing a lot of AHL’ers during their Thursday night tilt. In no way does this diminish the Jets’ win, as several key players for the team stood out and solidified spots for themselves when the opening night roster is announced. Nikolaj Ehlers, Nic Petan, Andrew Copp and Thomas Raffl all played well, creating a bit of drama (see Raffl and his stunt double, Anthony Peluso), while driving the offense with some goals and assists. If this play continues into Saturday night, The Jet’s brass will have some tough decisions ahead. On a side note, the Moose played on Friday night , by all reports, Chase De Leo had a stellar game. The Moose will play again on Saturday night, and if De Leo plays like a rock star again, the Jet’s brass may be inclined to add him in the mix for a last roster spot too.

Keys to the Game

Winnipeg Jets

In looking at the projected lines for tonight’s game, Brian Munz of TSN 1290 reports the following lines were used in this morning’s skate. It looks like Andrew Ladd is a no go for the Jets, so look for Nic Petan to play LW on a line with Bryan Little and Blake Wheeler. Mathieu Perreault will likely draw back in on the second line with Mark Scheifele, and Nikolaj Elhers. Alexander Burmistrov will continue his strong preseason play and likely centre a line with Nikolaj Ehlers and Thomas Raffl, as it’s been reports that Adam Lowry is banged up too and may not go. Chris Thorburn will dress and take his usual spot on the 4th line with Andrew Copp and fellow goon Anthony Peluso will round out the forwards. JC Lipon is the projected scratch. On Defence, Paul Postma, Ben Chairot, Toby Enstrom, Tyler Myers, Jacob Trouba, Mark Stuart are key locks, with Dustin Byfuglien, Jay Harrison and Adam Pardy in the pressbox or at home watching on TV like the rest of us. We can expect Ondrej Pavelec to see the net.

Okay Micheal Frolik! Come out, come out, where ever you are! Not dressed for Thursday night's game, Micheal Frolik will see action tonight. It's expected that the Flames will dress the vast majority of their opening night roster.
