GameDay Thread: Winnipeg Jets vs Edmonton Oilers

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

The Winnipeg Jets take on the Edmonton Oilers in the Jets' second preseason game of the 2014-2015 season.  The Winnipeg Jets will be dressing a fair share of top end-talent and NHL depth, while the Oilers, meanwhile, will ice a very, very young team.

The game will be broadcast on TSN3 tonight.

Possible (likely) Line-ups:

Winnipeg Jets

Evander Kane - Mark Scheifele - Blake Wheeler

TJ Galiardi - Adam Lowry - Scott Kosmachuk

Nikolaj Ehlers - Nicolas Petan - Matt Halischuk

Eric Tangradi - Patrice Cormier - Anthony Peluso

Joshua Morrissey - Jacob Trouba

Adam Pardy - Grant Clitsome

Julian Melchiori - Will O'Neill

Michael Hutchinson

Danny Taylor

Edmonton Oilers

Nail Yakupov - Ryan Nugent-Hopkins - Jordan Eberle

Benoit Pouliot - Leon Draisatl - Vladimir Tkachev

Curtis Hamilton - Bogdan Yakimov - Andrew Miller

Kale Kessy - Travis Ewanyk - Tyler Pitlick

Darnell Nurse - Martin Marincin

Keith Aulie - Justin Schultz

Oscar Klefbom - Martin Gernat

Laurent Brossoit

Tyler Rimmer

Players to Watch

With all of the youth in this game, there are plenty of options.  For the Jets, I'll have my eyes on the top defense pairing of Joshua Morrissey and Jacob Trouba, who may very well get to play against a top-NHL line in Yakupov-RNH-Eberle.  I'll also be keeping a close eye on Nikolaj Ehlers, Scott Kosmachuk, and the top line of Kane-Scheifele-Wheeler (who should have an easy go of it tonight).

On the Oilers' side, I'll be interested to watch Leon Draisatl and Darnell Nurse, both of whom could make the Oilers' team.  Nail Yakupov too.  Bogdan Yakimov, all six-foot-five of him, is a very interesting prospect as well.
