The NHL has tweaked the Draft Lottery format for the 2015 NHL Draft. The odds for each of the four lowest-ranked teams winning the first-overall pick have decreased, while the odds for each of the ten highest-ranked non-playoff teams getting the pick have slightly increased. For 2016, additional lotteries will be held for the second- and third-overall selections. Now the last-place team can fall as low as fourth-overall rather than second-overall. In time for what many expect to be a talent-loaded 2015 Draft headlined by CHL exceptional status holder Connor McDavid, the idea behind these tweaks is to further reduce incentive for teams to intentionally throw away their seasons in order to easily get top prospects.
There's the week in NHL news, come back next week for another week of updates!
