T'was the Night Before Trade Deadline

A recap of the day gone by, in the verse of "T'was the Night Before Christmas"

Bruce Fedyck-USA TODAY Sports

T'was the night before deadline, when all through the league,

Not a GM was sleeping, for all want a trade;

The players and picks were all listed with care,

With hopes that the trade fairies would soon be there.

The players all were nestled all snug in their beds,

While hope of stability danced in their heads;

For TSN on their set and fans at their desks.

Had just settled in for the long day ahead.

When out on the phones there arouse such a clatter,

I sprang from my chair to see what was the matter.

To my computer I flew like a flash,

Opened to Twitter and let out a gasp.

Luongo was traded to Florida he'll go,

Andy MacDonald a Flyer, so slow.

Mike Weaver's a Hab, on the right side he'll play,

And in the Wild net Bryzgalov will lay.

With a wily old host, so quick with his wit,

I knew in a moment, that his work was amiss.

To all the insiders, the trades they came

James Duthie, he called them, he called them by name:

Now Bobby, now Dreger

Now Pierre and Aaron!

On Button, on Kouleas,

On Lavoie, on McGuire!

To the top of the platform,

To the top of the hour,

Now trade away, now trade away,

NOW TRADE AWAY ALL!!!!

*authors note: Renaud Lavoie does not work for TSN but he has broken both the Iginla and Luongo trades so he is good at his job, he just is French and not English.
