Recap: Michael Grabner (2G, 1A) registered yet another dominant performance for the Austrians who earned their first victory of the tournament against Norway. Credit to the Norwegians who were able to out-shoot Austria, who relied on a strong performance from Mathias Lange in the victory.

Russia 1 – 0 Slovakia

Recap: After an emotional shootout loss at the hands of the Americans, the Russian Federation took back to the ice this morning looking for a win against a disappointing Slovak team. Though they have had a poor showing so far this tournament, Slovakia held the Russians scoreless for sixty-five minutes forcing yet another shootout for the host country. Tallies from Alexander Radulov and Ilya Kovalchuk earned the win for Russia, overshadowing a terrific performance by Slovakian goaltender Jan Laco who made 36 saves in the loss. Semyon Varlamov was stout in Russia's win, earning a shutout by fending off twenty-seven shots.

USA 5 – 1 Slovenia

Recap: Phil Kessel burst onto the Olympic scene against Slovenia scoring a natural hat trick for the Americans who routed their European opponents by a final of 5-1. David Backes and Ryan McDonagh also factored in on USA's scoring while Ryan Miller made 17 of 18 saves in the win. Anze Kopitar was held without a point in Slovenia's loss.
