Cole’s Notes From Around the League: 11/15/14-11/21/14

Anaheim

The Ducks recalled centre Chris Wagner from AHL Norfolk. They also recalled winger Kyle Palmieri from a conditioning assignment. They acquired winger Rene Bourque from Montreal in exchange for defenceman Bryan Allen. They reassigned Wagner to AHL Norfolk last night.

Arizona

The Coyotes reassigned defenceman David Schlemko from AHL Portland and recalled winger Lucas Lessio. They also reassigned winger Greg Carey. They recalled Schlemko on the 19th.

Boston

The Bruins reassigned defenceman Zach Trotman to AHL Providence, recalling him a couple days later. They recalled forward Alexander Khokhlachev on an emergency basis. Defenceman Ian White, whose last NHL action was a try-out with Winnipeg in Fall 2013, signed with AHL Providence.

Buffalo

The Sabres recalled goaltender Nathan Lieuwen from AHL Rochester. Goaltending coach Arturs Irbe dressed on Tuesday as an emergency backup for Buffalo a la Dwayne Roloson for Anaheim a couple weeks ago.

Calgary

The Flames recalled centre Corban Knight from AHL Adirondack and reassigned centre Max Reinhart.

Carolina

The Hurricanes claimed forward Andrej Nestrasil off waivers from Detroit. Winger Aaron Palushaj, whose last NHL action came in 2013/14 with Carolina, has terminated his contract with the KHL’s Medvescak Zagreb.

Chicago

The Blackhawks recalled goaltender Scott Darling from AHL Rockford while reassigning goaltender Antti Raanta. They also recalled forward Joakim Nordstrom. The next day, Nordstrom and Darling were reassigned, while Raanta and defenceman Stephen Johns were recalled. Johns was reassigned, and Nordstrom and defenceman Adam Clendening were recalled. Forward Phillip Danault was recalled.

Colorado

The Avalanche recalled goaltender Calvin Pickard from AHL Lake Erie. They also recalledd centre Ben Street, winger Tomas Vincour, and winger Andrew Agozzino.

Columbus

The Blue Jackets acquired defenceman Jordan Leopold from St. Louis for a sixth-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft. They assigned forward Dana Tyrell to AHL Springfield. They claimed defenceman Kevin Connauton off waivers from Dallas and reassigned defenceman Frederic St. Denis and centre Michael Chaput to AHL Springfield.

Dallas

The Stars lost defenceman Kevin Connauton off waivers and recalled defenceman Jyrki Jokipakka. They signed centre Jason Spezza to a four-year extension worth $30M effective starting in 2015/16. They acquired defenceman Jason Demers and a third round pick in the 2016 Draft from San Jose in exchange for defenceman Brenden Dillon.

Detroit

The Red Wings reassigned centre Stephen Weiss to AHL Grand Rapids for conditioning. They recalled defenceman Xavier Ouellet. They lost forward Andrej Nestrasil off waivers to Carolina.

Edmonton

The Oilers reassigned winger Iiro Pakarinen and defenceman Oscar Klefbom to AHL Oklahoma City. They recalled forward Steve Pinizzotto. They acquired winger Kellan Lain from Vancouver in exchange for centre Will Acton.

Florida

The Panthers recalled centre Rocco Grimaldi from AHL San Antonio.

Los Angeles

The Kings reassigned defenceman Andrew Bodnarchuk to AHL Manchester. Defenceman Slava Voynov was charged with felony domestic violence, and is set for arraignment early next month. Because of how long this could potentially take, the NHL and NHLPA will be treating Voynov’s contract like that of a long-term injured player, meaning the Kings are relieved of his cap hit until he either returns or is terminated.

Minnesota

The Wild reassigned forward Jordan Schroeder and defenceman Justin Falk to AHL Iowa. They also reassigned goaltender Josh Harding.

Montreal

The Canadiens acquired defenceman Bryan Allen from Anaheim in exchange for winger Rene Bourque.

Nashville

The Predators made no moves this week.

New Jersey

The Devils reassigned goaltender Keith Kinkaid to AHL Albany and recalled goaltender Scott Clemmensen and defenceman Peter Harrold.

New York I.

The Islanders made no moves this week.

New York R.

The Rangers made no moves this week. Defenceman Tomas Kaberle was released from his pro try-out with AHL Hartford.

Ottawa

The Senators made no moves this week.

Philadelphia

The Flyers recalled centre Scott Laughton from AHL Lehigh Valley, reassigning centre Blair Jones.

Pittsburgh

The Penguins made no moves this week.

San Jose

The Sharks acquired defenceman Brenden Dillon from Dallas in exchange for defenceman Jason Demers and a third round pick in 2016.

St. Louis

The Blues acquired a fifth-round selection in the 2016 NHL Draft from Columbus in exchange for defenceman Jordan Leopold. They recalled defenceman Chris Butler from AHL Chicago.

Tampa Bay

The Lightning made no moves this week.

Toronto

The Maple Leafs recalled defenceman Korbinian Holzer from AHL Toronto on an emergency basis. They reassigned him the next day. They reassigned winger Matt Frattin and placed centre Petri Kontiola on unconditional waivers for contract termination. Expect Kontiola to be back in the KHL. Winger David Booth was reassigned to AHL Toronto for conditioning.

Vancouver

The Canucks reassigned winger Nicklas Jensen and defenceman Bobby Sanguinetti to AHL Utica. They acquired centre Will Acton from Edmonton in exchange for winger Kellan Lain. They recalled defenceman Frank Corrado.

Washington

The Capitals made no moves this week.

Winnipeg

The Jets made no moves this week.

Due to continued inclement weather, the Rangers-Sabres game scheduled for last night was postponed. It has been rescheduled for February 20, 2015.
