The Winnipeg Jets open their 2014-15 season in Glendale with a showdown versus the newly named Arizona Coyotes. It may be the first game of the season, but the Winnipeg Jets are starting off their season with an evil looking three game road trip. Given the next two opponents, San Jose Sharks and Los Angeles Kings, the Winnipeg Jets will need to start hot. The Yotes will want to do the same.
New Day for Ondrej. After a rough
career couple years, the Winnipeg Jets starting goalie is said to be revitalized. Whether or not he is, it is a new season and Ondrej Pavelec hasn't lost any games yet so there is no reason to be down on the guy. Let's hope for improvement. One game at a time.
Kan Scheif Wheel? The Winnipeg Jets new glam line of Evander Kane, Mark Scheifele and Blake Wheeler is set to hit the ice tonight. They may remain a work in progress, but they were strong in their preseason finale. This trio will want to ride on that wave of momentum as expectations are extremely high.
De-mess-fensive Zo-mess-ne. The Winnipeg Jets have been a mess in the defensive zone through much of the preseason. That won't work now that the bullets are live. Coach Paul Maurice will be looking for more consistency out of his defensive group tonight and finding a win will be tough without it.
Goal scorers? The Arizona Coyotes forward looks horrible on paper. The list of goal scorers includes nobody. As nice as it is to have a strong defensive game, a team needs to goals to win. Who will score for the Yotes? The players will be aiming to answer that question tonight.
Name, name, go away. The Phoenix Coyotes are no more, it is the Arizona Coyotes from here out. I screwed this up constantly throughout this preview. It is annoying. Stupid brain. Stupid, stupid brain.
Players to Boo Mercilessly
All of them! This is game one! Boo the whole goddam time!
Yotes suck. Jets win.
