Winnipeg Jets Development Camp – Open Thread

And so begins the Joshua Morrissey era with the Winnipeg Jets.

Morrissey will join former 1st-rounders Mark Scheifele and Jacob Trouba as well as 40 other skaters (Jets draft picks and unsigned prospects) at the Jets Development Camp at the MTS Iceplex this week. It begins this afternoon as the first session begins at 1:15 pm, and runs all week, culminating with full scrimmage on Friday.

The full roster of players taking part, as well as the times of each daily session, can be seen here.

While the three 1st-round picks mentioned above will obviously attract much of the attention, there are a number players that will be looking to make a name for themselves this week. Ivan Telegin is a guy that I’m intrigued to see, as he missed last year’s Development Camp due to injury and has yet to skate in front of an audience in the ‘Peg. And guys like Adam Lowry, Scott Kosmachuk, Julian Melchiori and Ryan Olsen will look to show how much they’ve improved from last year’s camp. I’m also interested to see how the goaltenders do, as Connor Hellebuyck and Juho Olkinuora both had solid years in college last season.

On top of that, the entire contingent from the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, only a few weeks away, are in town to show their stuff. Joining Morrissey is Nicolas Petan, Eric Comrie, Jimmy Lodge, J.C. Lipon, Andrew Copp, Jan Kostalek, Tucker Poolman, Brenden Kichton and Marcus Karlstrom. It’ll be interesting to see how the new crop of picks stack up.

Is there anyone in the camp that you're intrigued by? Is there any player you want us to focus on in particular? Perhaps you want us to follow one of the undrafted college guys closely? Let us know what you want us to keep our eye on in the comments, as AIH will be represented by myself for much of the camp this week.

Heading to a cold rink in the middle of July. I love it.

Oh, and if you are interested in getting some live updates from the camp, follow me at @arby_18 on Twitter. I won't live-tweet the drills or anything silly like that, but I'll provide some thoughts on what I see. But if you don't care about some dumb bloggers opinion, I get that too.
