Hey all! Here is our feature running Monday through Friday that will bring you up to date on what’s going on in the media pertaining to the Winnipeg Jets and elsewhere in the NHL.

Ed. Note: Now that we are through with the Stanley Cup Finals, Altitude Check will only be running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Evander Kane plays his current contract talks close to the vest: “I’m not going to talk about anything in the future or any contract type of stuff. That’s between my agent and Winnipeg to sort something out.” Yeesh, that doesn’t quite evoke confidence. [Winnipeg Sun]

Alexei Ponikarovsky weighs in on lockout talk: “You’re waiting to see what’s going to happen, you’re still training hard to get ready for the training camp. If it’s not going to happen maybe you’ll take a little break and then regroup and go again. We’ll see. It’s hard to say right now how long it’s going to take and how long we have to wait for it.” [WFP]

Andrew Ladd give his thoughts as well: “Our offer is more on track than theirs and theirs was a pretty low-ball offer to start off with and they haven’t really made any concessions so far. We seem to be at an impasse right now. Everyone is kind of drawing a line in the sand and we don’t feel comfortable moving from where we are until they move a lot more.” [Canoe]
