Altitude Check: Winnipeg Jets News and Headlines, Monday August 6, 2012

Hey all! Here is our feature running Monday through Friday that will bring you up to date on what’s going on in the media pertaining to the Winnipeg Jets and elsewhere in the NHL.

Ed. Note: Now that we are through with the Stanley Cup Finals, Altitude Check will only be running on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Here is what’s in the news for Monday, August 6, 2012:

There isn’t a ton of Jets news flowing these days, but Team USA is getting some ice time and that means Winnipeg Jets prospect Jacob Trouba is keeping busy. He netted an assist yesterday. [USA Hockey]

In other Jets news, Ben did put together a very thorough season preview for the home team. Don’t worry guys, he crapped all over Ondrej Pavelec, so you can still love / hate him for that. [NHL Numbers]

NHL Numbers also teaches us why the Carolina Hurricanes suck or maybe don’t suck. [NHL Numbers]

Do the Tampa Bay Lightning suck? find out here. [NHL Numbers]

The Washington Capitals definitely suck. Same goes for their fans, especially those based out of Winnipeg. In all serious though, aren’t the Capitals just terrible? [NHL Numbers]

In another fun project CBS Sports attempts to figure out which teams use Advanced Stats. Somehow the Vancouver Canucks didn’t make the cut despite Gillis admitting as much. Meanwhile, they list the Flames and a couple sucky South East Division teams as probable users. …maybe these number don’t work so well after all.

In other news, AIH has instituted a new dress code for readers and writers alike. We don't want things getting too formal in here:

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend!
