Winnipeg Jets in Europe – October 12, 2012

No games of note out of the KHL today, but the DEL and Czech Extraliga both had their Jets representatives in action, as Ondrej Pavelec got the start for Bílí Tygři Liberec and Brett Festerling played for the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers of Nürnberg.

  • Pavelec would surprise me and pick up the win, pushing his record to 1-4-2 on the year. He had 20 saves out of a possible 21 in a 3-1 Bílí Tygři Liberec victory over HC Energie Karlovy Vary. His numbers are still abysmal, but one has to hope this is the start of a turn around of form for the Jets’ starter, as he must prove his worth somehow. With no NHL to suffice, the Czech Extraliga will have to suffice as an adequate battlefield.
  • Brett Festerling and the Thomas Sabo Ice Tigers would square off against EHC Munich Red Bull in what would end up as a 3-1 loss for the home side from Nürnberg. Festerling would end up in the penalty box and had to watch as Munich scored on the resulting power play. Festerling would finish with 2 PIM, 2 shots and a -1 rating on the game.
