The End of Rivalry???

As if it's intentionally attempting to prove its irrelevance, the Toronto Star sports section throws this well-worn crap at us: "Expansion, free agency and the cap system have conspired to create a fluid NHL. Players move around from team to team with a frequency that was once unfathomable. Enemy opponents of today are teammates of tomorrow. Friendships cut across dressing rooms." It has been a long time since the opposite was true. I seem to recall the Leafs trading half their team to the Detroit Red Wings following their last Stanley Cup. The only thing that kept players with the same team was the fact that their teams owned them. Ironically, Tim Hunter gets interviewed for this piece. He gnashes his teeth about Edmonton-Calgary rivalries...But Flames fans will certainly remember him in a Canucks uniform.
