@DarrenDreger of TSN is reporting that GM Kevin Cheveldayoff has talked to Craig Ramsay about interviewing to stay on as coach of the new Winnipeg Hockey Club. Ramsay, one of the best two-way forwards in NHL history for the 1970s and 80s Buffalo Sabres, has a 38.2 winning percentage across 1 full and two partial coaching seasons (BUF, PHI, ATL). Last year, he led the Thrashers to a 34-36-12 record, good for 80 pts and 4th in the Southeast Division but not good enough to make the playoffs. It's hard to tell how good he is with only one full season as a coach, but I find it curious that a guy with such a defensive reputation led a team that seemed to have a lot of trouble in their own end. For now, I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to growing pains for this young team.
