Global Warming! The Ice Caps are done. They got smashed last night 4-0. Eddie Pasquale did his best stopping 38 of 42 shots. Scheifele drew into the lineup for this one, Machacek remained out. The home crowd cheered loud. [The AHL]
Here is the game summary. *Spoiler Alert* There are lots of zeros next to the Ice Caps players. [The AHL]
In Jets news, Mark Chipman and handed a big cheque to charity! $100,000 is a lot of money, but it sounds a lot less awesome when you equate it to 7.13 games of Randy Jones (about 3 free pizzas). [WFP]
More Chipman, this time preaching patience. Expect a slow build folks! [WFP]
The Yotes are also done. The game ended with heavy drama in OT with a GWG from the pancake man. [NHL]

Cue more Clancy Wiggum! Things are dire for the St. John's IceCaps who now trail 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals after suffering a 1-0 overtime loss last night versus the Norfolk Admirals. The Admirals continue to march on, having only lost four times in their past 43 (!!!) games. Pierre-Cedric Labrie had your game winner. [The AHL]

The story of Admirals head coach John Cooper, a former lawyer who decided to make coaching a full-time gig. The Washington Capitals, Edmonton Oilers and Calgary Flames would all be wise to complete their due diligence on this guy. Sorry Montreal, but he's not bilingual. Enjoy your choice of Michel Therrien or Marc Crawford though! [Pilot Online]
"The last time the NHL and NHLPA slugged it out, the results made it possible for Winnipeg to return to the NHL. What happens this time could improve or damage the Jets' ability to compete in the NHL. The Jets are a middle-of-the-pack team in terms of revenue and the business model they have created using the current collective bargaining agreement and its salary cap calls for them to be a bottom-third club in labour spending." [WFP]
Oh gosh, this is too rich. Kirk Penton gives more credence to my Christmas in May statement from yesterday, likening TSNE's Scott Brown to The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. [Winnipeg Sun]

Sigh, the story of the night the Jets returned, which isn't true at all, as the news was only speculated by David Shoalts. If you don't believe that "Jets Day" is truly May 31 then I'm sorry, but you're an idiot... [Winnipeg Sun]

Ed Tait and Shane Hnidy on what the Winnipeg Jets need to make them Stanley Cup contenders: A higher payroll for better players and a Vezina finalist in net. [WFP]
St. John's head coach Keith McCambridge on what the IceCaps need to improve upon in the Eastern Conference Finals. "We have to try and get more pucks behind the goaltender (Dustin Tokarski). We knew this was going to be a tight-checking series, we knew our opponent was going to be strong and they are all that." How about keeping the puck out of your net? The IceCaps have been outscored 9-2 in the series first two games. That's bad. [Winnipeg Sun]

Sigh, looks like idiocy is still alive and well with some Jets fans. Meet Tim Gillis and Chris Nault, two upstanding young men I'm sure will go far. Gentlemen, why don't you take the wads of cash you apparently have and throw it over the flames. That's essentially what you're doing in the first place. Dolts. (video) [Winnipeg Sun]

Tom Brodbeck with more on what's being dubbed Ticketgate here in Winnipeg. "We told you Tuesday the Manitoba Liquor Control Commission snapped up 440 prime Jets tickets almost entirely for their senior executives. We’ve since found out the Manitoba Lotteries Corp., Manitoba Public Insurance Corp. and Manitoba Hydro have all spent public dollars to obtain expensive tickets to the NHL games, thanks to the findings of the Canadian Taxpayers’ Federation."
