Pavelec is pending RFA with a big $ offer from KHL. It will take $4mil\multi years to keep him in NHL. Pay or trade him...Jets only options.

As reported by Darren Dreger. Ladies and gentlemen, you can thank your Winnipeg media for these absurd negotiations. Now let's start talking alternatives.
What's going on with the Jets ? I hear from a player on Winnipeg that Kane doesn't want to negotiate a new deal ?

What's going on with the Jets ? I hear from a player on Winnipeg that Kane doesn't want to negotiate a new deal ?— Renaud P Lavoie (@RenLavoieRDS) June 16, 2012 Kane has no arbitration rights, he'll get a QO from the Jets, scored 30 goals...can he be traded ?— Renaud P Lavoie (@RenLavoieRDS) June 16, 2012 According to Renaud Lavois of RDS, an unnamed Winnipeg Jets player has allegedly suggested that Kane doesn't want to negotiate a new deal with the Jets. First the Pavelec to the KHL rumor, and now this one for Evander Kane. Both of our major RFA's 'allegedly' want out. Should we as Jets fans be worried? Or are rumors like these just all part of the fun of having our team back?
Today Eddie broke down the Jets haves and needs on right side of the offence. Spoiler alert: We need help! Tait was also nice enough to throw a "what if we still had Kovi?" and an even sillier "what if we still had Hossa?" into the mix. He then goes on to list some of the top available UFAs. PA Parenteau sits tops on his list. He is one of the top FAs at the positions, but in my opinion PA is the scariest UFA on the market. Somebody will pay him 1st line money and I really don't see him as anything more than a 2nd liner. Without 1st line TOI, Tavares and prime PP time, will he put up 45 points? What do you guys think we should do on the right side?
Some smart guy named Benjamin munched a lot of numbers. He came to the conclusion that Chris Mason's 2011-12 season was among the most favorable seasons that any goaltender has faced over the last 5 yrs. In another interesting note, the first part of the study showed a huge discrepancy between the help that Mason and Pavelec received . Anybody have a thought as to why? I have heard some speculation that rebound control could alter a team's Fenwick, but I really have no idea if this is true. Could it be a simple as Mason facing poor Fenwick teams? What do you guys think?
If anybody is interested, Lisa Halverstadt of the Arizon Republic is doing a play-by-play breakdown of today's Glendale council meeting. Bettman is there, etc. From Lisa's Twitter feed: Scruggs: Front-loaded nature of Coyotes deal may be difficult for Glendale. Have to look at whether city can afford to make payments. Bettman: The decision you're making isn't just about this year but affects generations of Glendale residents. Scruggs: I believe the arena can be used productively "without us having to pay somebody to call it home." ...and so on and so on. I know this situation is played out and tired. I know we have a team. I don't have any thoughts for or against the Yotes, but I am curious about what this ownership (or lack of ownership) situation means for the league.
Listen to TSN1290 from 12-3 tomorrow as Gabe Desjardins (Hawerchuk) is in-studio with the IC Boys to talk some puck and probably some advanced stats as well.
Winnipeg Calling? This is an intriguing opportunity to take a shot at a guy with considerable upside coming off a down year. If we're going into this season thinking that Pavelec is a sure thing, we are screwed. No offence, Pavs.
It seems that the draft status of Tanner Pearson is a hot topic in Winnipeg as of late. With that in mind, here's Matt Eichel of the Jets All Out Blog as he offers his take on whether or not the Winnipeg Jets should draft Pearson in the 2012 NHL Draft. "What makes Pearson interesting on the surface is his connection to Scheifele - who finished fourth on Barrie in scoring with 63 points in 47 games at a 1.34 points per game pace - and Ivan Telegin, another Jets (former Atlanta Thrasher) draft pick. ... Pearson, who was ranked by Central Scouting at 22nd in their mid-way rankings, slipped to 25th overall in their rankings - still a first round player. (Caveat: Pearson is ranked 25th out of North American skaters, almost assuring he should be around with the Jets second round pick). With the ninth overall pick, however, the Jets are faced with a problem if they do indeed show interest in another Barrie Colt prospect. ... Despite the attractiveness of another Colt - especially one who has played with two other Jets picks - there could be the advantage that teams may be wary of his season ending injury limiting his progress into this next OHL season. If not, the Jets will need to trade up to acquire the pick to grab Pearson in the late first round or perhaps he would drop down into the early second round for the Jets second round pick." Most know where I stand on the topic of Pearson, so I won't beat a dead horse. But to reinterate, I'm just a tad leery of a gritty overaged player breaking out against 17 and 18 year olds being selected with a first or second round pick. What say you? Agree? Disagree? The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Tomas Vokoun from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 7th round draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Vokoun has waived his no movement clause in order for the deal to be completed. In addition, Vokoun has signed a two year contract with the Penguins. Financial terms have not been officially released but the deal is expected to be worth approximately $4 million. The Penguins have Marc-Andre Fleury under contract for another three seasons with a $5 million cap hit (but $5.5M and $5.75M salaries). That, combined with the fact that Fleury cannot be placed on waivers and has a limited no trade clause, implies that Fleury is still the starter in Pittsburgh. However, this acquisition nonetheless speaks volumes about what Pittsburgh's management thought about the Penguins' goaltending in the playoffs. Update: NHL.com is saying $4million, so that number might be official now.
