Introduction:
The Jets are limping into the all star break, having dropped their last three games decisively. Last night, they lost 4 – 1 to the Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, bringing them to 3-6-1 in their last 10 games, and currently sitting outside of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
It’s a good time for the Jets to have a break in the schedule. They’ve experienced a rash of injuries this season to a roster that was already talent deficient. This is also a great time for the Jets brain trust to contemplate their next moves heading into the trade deadline and the last quarter of the season. Will Chevy try to upgrade the teams’ talent level on defense? Or, will he stand pat, do nothing, essentially telling Jets fans to enjoy the semi-tank, and to start looking at mock draft boards?
I have some thoughts on those questions in an upcoming article. For now, the Blue Jackets, who are on fire! 8 – 2 in their last 10 games, winners of their last five. They are currently in a playoff spot in the Eastern conference, but there is really little margin for error with so many teams close to them in the standings. Like him or not, John Tortorella has his team playing well considering how much talent they lost this past season.
