Preview and GDT: Winnipeg Jets vs. Minnesota Wild

The NHL is back, baby! After the Jets season ended in May, they are back for another kick at the can. While the regular season does not begin until October, the pre-season starts tonight in North America and the Jets are participating. What are they playing for?

  • Who will become Toby Enstrom and play beside Dustin Byfuglien on the second pair?

This is an important position as the first pair is set with Josh Morrissey and Jacob Trouba. The second pair is equally important and needs to be filled out ASAP. The leading contender is currently Tyler Myers on his off-side.

  • Who the back up goalie will be?

The Jets know that Connor Hellebuyck will be the starter, but the backup position is up in the air and ready for anyone to take.

  • The second line centre.

Paul Maurice says that Bryan Little is the man for the second line, but after last year, it would be foolish to put all your eggs in that basket. Might Jack Roslovic be a better option?

  • Kristian Vesalainen

My good friend Patrik would be disappointed if I did not mention this Finn in a pre-season preview. While he can still return to Finland if he does not make the team, he is willing to go to the AHL to ply his trade this year and according to Patrik, he is ready.

Because it is pre-season, I have not gotten to setting a roster and lines yet. Hopefully I will be able to for next game.

Listen to me talk about social media, the Jets, the Habs (a little bit), and laugh at the Sens before you watch the Jets play on Jets Centric Podcast.
