Winnipeg Jets vs Nashville Predators

Both the Winnipeg Jets and Nashville Predators won their last games, and both will close out the season by facing each other at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg. The Preds are in the playoffs, but the Jets will miss the playoffs again, despite having very high hopes going in.

*Chariot, Tanev and Dano are expected to be the scratches.

*Roslovic and Comrie were returned to the Manitoba Moose yesterday, and gained high praise from PoMo regarding their play in Columbus.

*Entrom, Postma, Matthias and Pavelec are all done for the season after their surgeries.

3 questions come training camp in September:

  1. Goaltending? It’s a mess, if you ask me. Hellebuyck, Hutchinson, Comrie plus whoever Chevy can snag in the off season, will all be jockeying for the number 1 role.
  2. Defense? With a full season of Trouba, a healed Emstrom & Myers, a signed Poolman, a returning Morrissey & Byfuglien, and adding a resigned Postma or another UFA, this could be a strength going into next season.
  3. Offense? Sky is the limit. It’s the proper deployment that questionable.

Players to watch in last game of season:

Winnipeg Jets: Thorburn – last game of the season is his 750th NHL game, and likely his last. Anybody laying bets he’ll scrap it up with McLeod for old times sake?

Nashville Predators: McLeod – See Thorburn above.

Prediction: Jets go out with a bang and win their 7th straight.
