Patrik Laine is expected to play tomorrow; Mathieu Perreault out

Patrik Laine has not played in the past eight games after taking a brutal, but legal open ice hit from Jake McCabe two weeks ago. He is expected to be back tomorrow night though when the Winnipeg Jets play the San Jose Sharks in Winnipeg.

This is huge news for the Jets, especially since Mathieu Perreault took a slash to the forearm from Corey Perry and left the game against the Anaheim Ducks injured. There was no penalty on the play. Laine has been a full practice participant for the past two practices and sounded like he did not play Monday night because he needed an extra day of practice.

It is not clear where Laine will line up for the Jets. He might take his old spot alongside Mark Scheifele and Nikolaj Ehlers or he might join the Bryan Little/Blake Wheeler tandem that lost Perreault tonight. It also remains to be seen if Andrew Copp or Nic Petan remain in the top six.
