Preview & GDT – Jets vs Canadiens

The Winnipeg Jets are looking to keep the pressure on the pedal as they are coming off a shutout win against the Calgary Flames on Monday night. Goals by the leadership duo of Byfuglien and Wheeler secured the win for the Jets, while Hellebuyck was solid in net, due in large part to great defensive play from his teammates. It was a great sight to see, as the team rebounded of sorts seeing as this was the first game without newly named Allstar, the recovering Laine. Ehlers and Scheifele continue to have stellar seasons, and it’s a toss up which one of these two forwards will fill in for Laine, if he can’t attend the all-star festivities later this month. The line of Lowry, Armia and Matthias continues to impress, while the veteran line of Perreault, Little and Captain Wheeler are maintaining their positive presence in the offensive zone. Defensively, the Jets are still packing a one-two punch with Morrissey and Byfuglien seconded by Enstrom and Trouba. Hellebuyck will have to remain sharp and not take the depleted Canadien team for granted. If he can do it, he may very well succeed in gaining his 4th shutout of the season, as the Jets look to win their 5th game in 6 starts.

The Canadiens on the other hand, are coming off a 4-1 loss against the Washington Capitals on Monday night. The Canadiens were overwhelmed by the Ovechkin led Capitals, who took advantage of the Canadiens missing 6 regulars. Habs’ goalie of choice and allstar selection Carey Price was a bit of a let down as well, but he’s usually a workhorse and is looking to bounce back against the Jets. Canadian’s Pacioretty has been steady in the goal scoring department, while Radulov has been a nice surprise and will be counted upon as well to provide and lead the majority of the offense.
