At last, the moment we've all been waiting for: the Winnipeg Jets have drafted Jesse Puljujärvi announced their 2016-17 preseason schedule.
The festivities begin on Tuesday, Sept. 27th against the Calgary Flames, 7:00 PM CT at the MTS Centre. Four of the seven games are taking place at home, with repeat opponents in the Edmonton Oilers, Minnesota Wild and aforementioned Flames, plus a one-off versus the Ottawa Senators. For what these preseason games are worth, it'll be fun having an early preview of new head coaches Guy Boucher, Bruce Boudreau and **insert Randy Carlyle here**.
Interestingly enough, the 2016 World Cup of Hockey will last until at least Thursday, Sept. 29th, potentially stretching to Saturday, Oct. 1st if the final's best-of-three format requires a third tilt. If Team USA and/or Team North America go right to the finish line, Winnipeg's three game homestand to kick off the preseason will be missing some of the team's biggest names. Might we see an extra PTO or three as a result?
Finally, as the Jets official website says, the team "will play in the YoungStars Classic in Penticton, BC Sept. 16-19 against the Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Vancouver Canucks." One can only hope we are treated once more to live streams of the tournament action.
