Logan Stanley has been drafted by the Winnipeg Jets with the 18th pick in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft.
Stanley, who played for the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL last year, put up 5 goals and 12 assists for 17 points in 64 games this past season on the blueline. Stanley, who is 6’7″ and 225 lbs, is the Left Handed Defensemen the Jets desperately needed.
Here’s what Elite Prospects say about him:
Stanley is a huge two way defenceman. He loves to play physical and clear the crease, but also can chip in offensively when needed. He has become a nasty player that the other team dreads whenever he is on the ice. Very few players can match him physically due his monster 6’6 frame, and he uses this to his advantage every game. He is a very consistent player who’s offensive game improved as the year went on. He looked very good in a first round series loss to the Kitchener Rangers in the 2016 OHL Playoffs (Tyler Parchem, EP 2016)
Futher to this on Elite Prospects, the following had Stanley ranked;
Ranked #30 by Hockeyprospect.com
Ranked #25 by ISS Hockey
Ranked #42 by Future Considerations
Ranked #34 by McKeen’s Hockey
Ranked #19 by NHL Central Scouting (NA Skaters)
Ranked #22 by TSN/McKenzie
As part of the Arctic Ice/ SB Nation Mock Draft, I suggested Logan Stanley as the Jets’ pick at the original slot of 22. 🙂
