Jets Look to Prey on Predators

After a nasty game against the San Jose Sharks where they fell 4-1 after a disastrous third period, your Winnipeg Jets hope to bounce back against an old central friend, the Nashville Predators.

Winnipeg Jets

Yesterday Blake Wheeler gave an emotionally charged interview after practice where he seemed to insinuate that some of the players on the team were not emotionally invested.

In times like this I think it's important everyone takes a look in the mirror individually to try to figure it out…Trying hard's not good enough. There's more to it than that. There just needs to be that collective buy-in.

Blake Wheeler has been one of the player’s on this team that constantly wears his heart on his sleeve and you can tell that he really gives a damn about this team. But those quotes sound like something you should have heard from the captain, Andrew Ladd. Perhaps Wheeler has started to take control of the locker room in case Andrew Ladd isn’t re-signed? If he doesn’t, he certainly has my vote as the team’s next captain.

I think it is time for the Jets to sit Connor Hellebuyck for a game or two and give Michael Hutchinson a chance again. You need to see if he has found his game again, because if he has, you can use that as an excuse to send Hellebuyck back down to the Moose and save him from being apart of a potential tanking. If Hutchinson still can’t get it done, you might feel more comfortable sending him down, trading him, or not qualifying him at the end of the year.

The Jets let penalties once again become their undoing against San Jose that was started by a Tyler Myers cross-checking penalty. Hopefully they can keep their heads cool and find a way to lower the amount of penalties against them. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the refs don't have an axe to grind against the team. They just aren't disciplined. *runs and hides*

Nashville Predators

Ryan Johansen was dealt to the Predators in exchange for former fourth overall pick Seth Jones. Great news for the Predators, terrible news for the rest of the division. Nashville currently sits fifth in the central division and sixth in the Western conference. The Predators were desperate for a bonafide highly skilled centre and they have finally found one.

Over the past twenty one games, Pekka Rinne has posted a save percentage over .900 seven times (thanks to Phillip for posting this stat on Twitter). His regard over that period is 6-12-3 (thanks again, Philip!).

Prediction

Jets take advantage of a shaky Pekka Rinne and win in overtime 3-2.
