AIH 2015 NHL Entry Draft Thread

The 2015 NHL Entry Draft is nearly upon us. For the Winnipeg Jets, with two selections in the first round of the draft, tonight presents another opportunity to continue building for the future.

Rumour has it that the Jets are interested in moving up in the draft. Will they make a move? Will they stand pat? Who will they select? Stay tuned to find out.

10 Storylines Heading into the Draft

  • We already know that Connor McDavid and Jack Eichel will be taken with the top two spots. Tonight, it becomes official.

  • Rumour has it that the Jets are interested in moving up in the draft. Will they make a move? Will they stand pat? Who will they select? Stay tuned to find out.

  • There have already been two blockbuster deals today, as the Boston Bruins sent Dougie Hamilton to the Calgary Flames in exchange for picks, and Milan Lucic to the Los Angeles Kings.

  • These deals follow the Buffalo Sabres‘ acquisition of Robin Lehner and the Colorado Avalanche’s acquisition (and subsequent signing) or Carl Soderberg from…you guessed it, the Boston Bruins.

  • After picking up a second first rounder in exchange for Lehner, the Ottawa Senators seem keen on moving up in the draft.

  • What will happen with the #3 overall pick? The Arizona Coyotes currently own it, but there have been no shortage of teams trying to acquire it, and the Coyotes seem open to trading.

  • The Toronto Maple Leafs have firm offers on the table for Phil Kessel and expect to get more on the draft floor this evening. Could Kessel be on the move tonight?

  • The New York Rangers will almost certainly trade Cam Talbot, and word is they have received multiple offers, including a 1st round pick. Dallas, Florida, San Jose, and Edmonton appear to be the front runners.

  • In Vancouver, Kevin Bieksa is likely on the move, and it appears that he may waive his no trade clause to join the San Jose Sharks. The Canucks also seem interested in trading one of their young goaltenders, Eddie Lack or Jacob Markstrom.

  • Finally, trade rumours have swirled around Colorado Avalanche’s Ryan O’Reilly for years. With the acquisition of Carl Soderberg, O’Reilly may finally be on his way out of town.
