About Last Night:
The Montreal Canadiens and Tampa Bay Lightning played textbook 1980's hockey where they decided that defense was optional and so was goaltending. The Habs won in overtime off of Winnipeg's own Dale Weise's winning goal. Carey Price struggled and the Habs gave up some glorious chances do to a defense that was activating at every chance they got. Anders Lindback played well, but looked uncomfortable making save, struggling with his rebound control. Ondrej Palat left the game with an UBI after a collision with PK Subban. Game 2 goes Friday at 6:00 CST on CBC. Montreal leads the series 1-0.
The Pittsburgh Penguins were almost befallen by Marc-Andre Fleury again, but Dan Bylsma adjusted his team and gave Brandon Sutter a better possession winger in Beau Bennett, keeping Tanner Glass off the ice. Columbus was gifted Fleury and it took superstar Bradon Sutter to win the game for Pittsburgh, No matter how valiant their effort, they once led 3-1, the Columbus Blue Jackets are now 0-5 in the playoffs. At least they got to the dance. Game 2 goes Saturday night at 6:00 CST on CBC. Pittsburgh leads the series 1-0.
The nightcap was the Anaheim Ducks and Dallas Stars. Anaheim jumped out to a 4 goal lead, only to see Dallas whittle it away. The final score was 4-3, but this series may turn on its head if Kari Lehtonen decides to not spot Anaheim a four goal lead. Ryan Getzlaf took a puck to the face with 16 seconds remaining in the third. Watch for health reports on him because head injuries can take a while to manifest themselves. Game 2 goes Friday at 9:00 CST on TSN. Anaheim leads the series 1-0.
