Seems to me that our season is done and all that remains is to play out the last 9 games, book your flights and hit the links.
On the talk radio shows I hear a lot of chatter from coaches/players about playing out the season with the current roster, building on the success (?) of the system etc. It also appears that the pundits have dismissed the notion that the prospects should play and the UFA's should hit the press box. Why play the UFAs we have no plans to sign? Why leave our top prospects in the A?....does anyone care who wins the AHL in this franchise or do we care if we have the tools to create a contender for Lord Stanley in the future?
If this team is trying to draft and develop, why not bring up the top prospects for a 9 game run? The experience for the players would be incredible, the depth of the evaluation would exceed anything from watching them play in the AHL and we might improve our draft lottery chances.
At this point in the season I for one am a lot more interested in the future than whether we finish above Nashville in our division.
