3 Jets Prospects Named to WHL Super Series Roster

Eric Comrie has all the same emotions as Claude Noel. He should fit in well. - Jamie Squire

The Winnipeg Jets will be well represented when the CHL-Russia Super Series stars in 2 weeks, as 3 of their prospects have been named to the WHL roster for the event.

The WHL released its roster for the annual CHL-Russia Super Series today, and the team will have a distinct Winnipeg Jets flavour to it, with prospects appearing in net, on the blue line and up front with 3 total representatives.

All 3 players from the Jets were drafted in the top 2 rounds of the 2013 draft, starting with:

Joshua Morrissey - Prince Albert Raiders- D

The 13th overall pick in the 2013 draft had a pretty stellar October, and has followed it up with 5 points in 2 games thus far in November, giving him 20 points on the season in 16 games. That's tied for the 2nd most in the WHL among defenders, and he's just 2 back of the leader who has played an additional 4 games. Any doubts Jets fans had about this kid's potential should be all but silenced by now.

Nicolas Petan - Portland Winterhawks - C

When 5'9" Petan was drafted 43rd overall in the 2nd round of last year's draft, questions were raised about his small stature. The question with Petan no longer is 'can he produce at his size?' Instead, it has become: "How long can he keep up the 2 points per game pace?"

Petan has 37 points in 18 games, with 5 assists in his first 2 games of November. This pair of games will allow him the chance to bolster his resume for the World Junior Hockey Championship tournament that kicks off on Boxing Day.

Eric Comrie - Tri-City Americans - G

A .927 save percentage through 18 games has him ranked 2nd in the WHL. We would mention Goals Against Average and wins, but we don't believe in those stats around these parts.

The brother in law of Hilary Duff is the only goaltender named to the WHL roster, so he will likely play both games for his league.

The WHL plays first in Red Deer on November 27, followed by Lethbridge on November 28 in the final two games of the 6 game series, so whether or not the CHL beats Russia might very well fall onto Comrie's shoulders.
