Okay Arctic Ice readers, I know you many of you have season tickets and share them with other people, so I'm hoping you can solve a dilemma for me.
There will be 24 games and we split our games up five ways, meaning someone will not have a fifth game (which we as a group are okay with). Now usually we pick via a snake draft, and then once we hit the last round (21st-25th), each family is allowed to either select a game, or, "pass" (this can only be done once, then everyone else is forced to choose a game). So for our snake draft we have two options, and I'm not sure how we should run it.
Usually it goes like this:
1-2-3-4-5
5-4-3-2-1
1-2-3-4-5
5-4-3-2-1
Now, at this point we'd snake back to 1-5 again, with, what happens to be my family with the 21st pick and the choice of games or pass. However this time the family picking last said it might not be fair for them to have the 25th pick this time since with a shortened season they are getting "punished" more for having the last pick (whereas with a 45 game sked the games are distributed a little more equally, with people getting their share of good games and ...Panther games). They suggested the last round work in reverse order. Now the last pick is obviously undesirable, since you either don't get a game or get the remaining one.
So I present to you two options AIH.
Option 1:
Team Choosing First Overall Holds: 1st, 10th, 11th, 20th, 21st
Team Choosing Last Overall Holds: 5th, 6th, 15th, 16th, 25th
or
Option 2:
Team Choosing First Overall Holds: 1st, 10th, 11th, 20th, 25th
Team Choosing Last Overall Holds: 5th, 6th, 15th, 16th, 21st
I suppose we can always just draw straws or choose the last round randomly, but we'd prefer to hold it 'draft-style' so that at least people can try their best to accomodate their schedules.
What say you, AIH?
