The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Tomas Vokoun from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 7th round draft pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. Vokoun has waived his no movement clause in order for the deal to be completed. In addition, Vokoun has signed a two year contract with the Penguins. Financial terms have not been officially released but the deal is expected to be worth approximately $4 million. The Penguins have Marc-Andre Fleury under contract for another three seasons with a $5 million cap hit (but $5.5M and $5.75M salaries). That, combined with the fact that Fleury cannot be placed on waivers and has a limited no trade clause, implies that Fleury is still the starter in Pittsburgh. However, this acquisition nonetheless speaks volumes about what Pittsburgh's management thought about the Penguins' goaltending in the playoffs. Update: NHL.com is saying $4million, so that number might be official now.
