To add on, I think that the play of some has even brought down the play of others.

For instance, I think Bogosian has tapered off since being paired with Hainsey. The Bogo-Stu pairing was solid, but separated neither are as good as they were together. You can’t put Hainsey and Oduya together though, because that would be a trainwreck of epic proportions, and there’s the dilemma.

So how many D do we move at the deadline?

Just for TJCAPS I listened to the post game show on the way home from school last game, and they said TNSE has told Flood to find a place ‘cause he’s staying here. To me, that says one of Oduya/Hainsey is gone for sure. But I’d prefer to get 2/3 out of Winnipeg, between Buff/Oduya/Hainsey.

Oduya being a UFA

Leads me to believe that he’s gone, as I’ve heard that Chicago is interested. Also, if Enstrom or Buff have value id move either of them. There is no way we can spend so much on our top-6 and get so little out if them.

Hrm...

- The ice looked awful, is that normal in PIT? The Pens did not seem to have as much trouble with it however.
- Jets looked tired in 3rd (or did they just look dejected?). Maybe rolling over 3 lines in the 3rd for a club without much offensive elite talent is not always the best move.
- Pavelec staying in reminded me of a baseball game where a pissed off MGR keeps a pitcher in even after 12 runs are in on him. In baseball there is an argument for the non-move, in hockey it just seems petty and small minded.
- This seems like yet another game where the Jets could ‘throw away the game tape’. At a certain point & after enough of these types of games, maybe these games should be re-watched, regardless of how painful.

by Buddy Grant on Feb 11, 2012 4:47 PM EST reply actions

To your last point

Noel better be using games like these as a teaching tool. Not saying you watch every painstaking minute but you dedicate 30-45 minutes to pick out good and bad parts and then move on. His job depends on these guys making year to at progress and working in the film room is a huge part of it.

Well the score could have been way worse than it was. The Jets battled to create offense when they could have packed it in, so that’s a small bright spot. As for Malkin, just give him the Hart, Art Ross etc.
